GRANITE
Classic and the best cost-benefit on the market, granite is a common type of felsic, granular and phaneritic intrusive igneous stone. It can be predominantly white, pink or gray, depending on the mineralogy. The word “granite” comes from the Latin granum, a grain, in reference to the coarse-grained structure of a completely crystalline stone. Strictly speaking, granite is an igneous rock that has between 20% and 60% quartz by volume and at least 35% of the total feldspar consisting of alkaline feldspar, although generally the term “granite” is used to refer to a wide range of igneous rocks with grains of quartz and feldspar.
QUARTZ
The hardest and most luxurious stone on the market. Quartzite is a non-foliated metamorphic stone that was originally formed from pure quartz sandstone. Sandstone is converted to quartzite by heating and pressure generally related to tectonic compression within the orogenic belts. Pure quartzite is generally white to gray, although quartzites generally come in various shades of pink and red due to varying amounts of iron oxide (Fe2O3). Other colors, such as yellow, green, blue, and orange, can appear due to the influence of other minerals. Today it is the best option in natural stones when it comes to durability.
